This page sets out how Maywalk House B&B will use and protect your personal information which you may provide to us either via our website, telephone or other means of communication.

Maywalk House B&B is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with data protection laws including the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, for example, either through our website or by telephone or email, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy. 

We will not share your information with third parties other than as described below. Some information is held in both electronic and paper formats securely here at Maywalk House B&B.

We take the security of your personal information very seriously and have systems in place to prevent unauthorised access.

Information we collect 

Data we hold can include, but is not limited to, name, address, telephone number and email address. We do not hold data for longer than is required by law.

There are several methods of how we collect the information from you, for example: you may provide us with information by completing forms on our website, by contacting us via post, email, telephone or other means. Information is also collected from you when you respond to customer surveys or provide feedback, etc.  Like most other websites, when you visit our website, we also collect information about usage via cookies, which help us to track user and traffic pattern (see below), however, we do not collect personal information via cookies. 

Google Analytics

In common with most other websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.  Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. GA also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you, but Google do not grant us access to this. 

Details of how GA makes use of cookies can be found on Google’s developer guides. Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.  

None of the cookies that are installed by GA contain personally identifiable information and Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and for the following reasons in particular:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional email about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone or mail.  You have the right to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you do wish to opt out, please email us at info@maywalkhouse.uk 

In certain cases, we may have to share your details with UK authorities like the police or immigration service, but we will only do so when it is required by law.


24 hr CCTV operates externally at our premises for the safety of ourselves and our guests, none of the cameras are positioned where they can see inside the property.  Only the owners of Maywalk House have access to the CCTV system. The data is recorded securely i.e. it is password protected and kept for as short a time as possible to comply with GDPR.

Security of your personal information

We take all reasonable, technical and organisational precautions to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure of your personal information.

Your rights

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you. Provision of such information will be subject to the payment of an administration fee (currently £10) and the supply of appropriate evidence of your identity such as a copy of your passport or driving licence.  You can also ask us to correct or delete any information you think is wrong.  


By using our site, you agree to accept this privacy policy, and in particular, you consent to us collecting and using your personal information.  Please be aware that our policy may change with time. Any changes to this policy will appear on this web page.

Third party websites

We use a number of third parties hosting companies, including Stripe and PayPal to process personal data on our behalf. These third parties have been carefully chosen and all of them are GDPR compliant.  However, please note that our website also contain links to other websites that are of interest, but otherwise, have no direct association with our operation. You should note that we are not responsible for the privacy policy or practices of third party websites and you should exercise usual caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
